Our Mission & Values

At SWLA Cannabis, we believe that the conversation around cannabis in Louisiana — and across the country — deserves more than misinformation, outdated narratives, and political hesitation. We are here to change that. Our mission is simple but far-reaching: to inform, to advocate, and to shift public understanding of cannabis through honest education and community-driven action.

Louisiana’s cannabis laws remain among the most restrictive and punitive in the country. Despite growing public support, our communities are still suffering the consequences of a system built on outdated fears rather than facts. Individuals are being arrested, families are being disrupted, and opportunities — for treatment, for entrepreneurship, for safe access — are being denied. SWLA Cannabis was founded to challenge that reality and help create a new one.

We aim to elevate the conversation by grounding it in science, compassion, and justice. Our content is thoroughly researched and publicly accessible, so that anyone — regardless of background — can come here to learn. Whether you're new to cannabis, a longtime advocate, or somewhere in between, this is a space where clarity matters more than hype, and truth matters more than tradition.

Our vision is a future where cannabis is no longer criminalized, misunderstood, or monopolized. We see a Louisiana where people aren't punished for possession, where patients have access without stigma, and where local economies benefit from legalization — not just large corporations. We believe this shift starts with transparency, continues with policy change, and ultimately arrives at cultural transformation. And we know it won't happen unless people like us — and like you — demand it.

We're not just pushing for legalization. We're advocating for thoughtful reform that recognizes the broader systems cannabis is tied to: incarceration, healthcare, racial equity, and economic opportunity. To us, cannabis isn't just a policy issue — it’s a lens through which we can rethink justice, community, and common sense.

SWLA Cannabis is here to educate, to engage, and to empower. Because when people understand the truth, change becomes possible. And change is overdue.

About Us

We’re a small, independent team of advocates, researchers, and everyday Louisianans who believe the time for reform is now. We’ve seen firsthand how outdated cannabis laws impact our communities — how they criminalize instead of care, how they hold people back, and how they fail to reflect what the majority of citizens actually believe.

We’re not backed by big money or national organizations. We’re from here. We live here. And we’re building something for here. Our work is rooted in the culture, concerns, and complexities of life in Louisiana — and especially in Southwest Louisiana, where progress often moves slower and myths die harder.

We created SWLA Cannabis to serve as a reliable, accessible, and unapologetically local resource. Our goal is to make the facts impossible to ignore and the movement impossible to dismiss. Whether you're looking to learn, to advocate, or to just understand what’s really going on, we’ve made this space for you.

We’re researchers. We’re storytellers. We’re parents, professionals, neighbors, and citizens. We don’t all have the same background, but we share a common vision: a smarter, fairer, more compassionate approach to cannabis in our state.

This is about more than legalization. It’s about restoring common sense, realigning policy with science, and giving people the tools to speak up, speak out, and spark change.
